Writers wanted for film with highest rate of
explosions per minute
Good evening,
I am posting this ad for the purpose of putting together a crack team of bitter,
sarcastic writers that have a serious bone to pick about the lameness of
something or other. I am an illustrator and animator looking to get some solid
and fierce stories together that will be the plot of a few animated shorts.
The goal is to mix satire, sarcasm, and (of course) straight up silliness --
with animation to come up with a series of shorts that we could pitch to such
entities as Comedy Central, Adult Swim, or Current.tv. An alternative option
would be to just create our own web show. Obvious examples of final product are
the Simpsons, South Park, and Tom Goes to the Mayor, but of course, we'll do it
our own way.
In putting a collective together, I am not interested in a formal application
process, but I do want to make sure that everyone who is on board will fit
together like Legos. So to accomplish this "screening," I have listed a number
of queries here. Please provide answers to these when you reply to this post (it
should be entertaining if anything).
- List a few things that you watched on-screen that radically changed or
influenced you in some way. How did it make you think harder about what a "joke"
can be?
- Say a little something about art and about comedy, mockery, and/or satire.
What are they? What do you think are their value in society? When do you think
that combination of ingredients is most potent? How about least potent?
- Do you have examples of your humorist work? If not, please shred something
apart using your most acidic tongue right and here now.
- What do you envision (from what little info is in this posting) that a final
product for a project like this would look like?
- 2 YouTube links.
Notes from the exploding future:
Once the "screening" part is done, we can figure out the process/logistics for
putting something like this together in a timely and well thought out manner, so
we can get to pitching this project somewhere. I have found some cool
collaborative writing tools such as
http://plotbot.com/ which seem like they might
do the trick. There is also
http://www.celtx.com/ which looks a perfect
application for story writing and storyboarding, although it is not web-based. I
am open to suggestions and magine that we can settle on something that works
well for all of us. Maybe even plain old google docs, or a private wiki.
You can find examples of my illustrations and some sample animation at
http://www.aggregatemadbox.com. Please take a peek at my site so you'z guyz can judge
for yourself whether or not you want to be involved with this particular visual
style. Here are a few thumbnails (click to see full size):
If this seems like this is something you would be interested in and you are
ready to begin skewering and demolishing lameness, please shoot me an email
soon! Let's put something together to fuck some shit up, yeah?
ps. Sorry about the misleading post title, but if you guys are into writing
explosions into plots, I'm not gonna stop ya.
